Hijra Sports Club, Akkaraipattu beat Rock Challenges Sports Club, Pottuvil in the final to emerge champions and bagged the “Late A.R.M.Hashim JP Trophy-2019’’ in the eight-a-side limited 5 over’s flood-lit cricket tournament conducted by Addalaichenai Al-Naja Sports Club at the Addalaichenai Konawatta beach playgrounds recently.

Addalaichenai Al-Naja Sports Club President S.M.Ithrees organized the tournament to mark the 20th anniversary of the club. Altogether 65 prominent teams from Ampara district took part.

In the finals, Pottuvil Rock Challenges SC won the toss and elected to bat first scored 43 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allocated 5 over’s, (Imran-18 and Kiyas 17). In reply Akkaraipattu Hijra SC scored 44 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. (Masmy -15).

The awards ceremony was held under the patronage of the Addalaichenai Al-Naja Sports Club President S.Ithrees while Parliamentarian A.L.M.Nazeer participated as the chief guest.

Winners were awarded a Trophy and a Rs.40,000 cash prize by the chief guest and the Pottuvil Rock Challenges Sports Club were awarded a cash prize of Rs.20,000 and the trophy.

Best Bowler, Best Batsman, Best Fielder, Man of the Match and Man of the Tournament were awarded as well.

Addalaichenai Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman A.L.Amanullah, Vice-Chairman S.M.M. Haniffa, Pradeshiya Sabha Member Thameem Abdeen, Sports Officer M.H.M. Ashwath, New Star SC President M.I.M. Riyas and Al-Naja SC Advisor and Teacher M.I. Haafil were among the special guests at the ceremony.
