A comprehensive security plan will be in force in and around schools to ensure safety of students, teachers and the non-academic staffers.
Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said this security plan will be implemented in all national and provincial schools to ensure safety of students and staffers.He said all schools and adjoining areas will be checked before the start of second term on April 29 as the government has the responsibility to ensure the safety of students and staff members.
The Education Ministry Secretary has already informed the Defence Secretary and Chief of Defence Staff Tri-Forces Commanders and the IGP to beef up security around schools island wide on the directive of Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam The Minister stressed the importance of implementing this mechanism effectively in National and Provincial schools.
Accordingly the Education Ministry urges school administration to take necessary measures to strengthen the safety of school premises aiming to create a secure environment for students prior to the commencement of schools next Monday (29).
