Twenty injured still at hospital

Twenty of the 73 injured people, who were admitted the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital after the bomb blast at the Zion Church in Batticaloa, are still receiving treatment and 28 causalities were discharged. One was transferred to the Kandy Teaching Hospital and another one to the Anuradhapura Hospital, Batticaloa Teaching Hospital Director Kalarani Ganeshalingam yesterday said.

She further said that there is a shortage of medicines and other medical equipment at the movement. A plastic surgeon from the Jaffna Teaching Hospital is currently working at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital.

The Police have withdrawn their guard from April 22 despite her request for protection from the Batticaloa District Superintendent of Police. She said that she is managing with the protection afforded by the hospital security staff.
