‘Another Suwaseriya ambulance shipment arrives’

Health, Nutrition, and Indigenous Medicine Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne told the Daily News that another shipment of Suwaseriya ambulances has reached the Colombo Harbour under the auspices of the Austrian government.

So far, 310 ambulances have been provided to state hospitals island-wide, the minister said, adding that it is planned to provide a total of 450 ambulances under the Suwaseriya project. He said that one ambulance cost Rs.9.175 million. Minister Dr. Senaratne said that the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the international media had commended Sri Lanka’s healthcare services during the Easter Sunday attacks. WHO Regional Director for South-East Asia, Dr. Poonam Khetrapal Singh, has pledged the cooperation of WHO to Sri Lanka in its hour of need, he said.
