Security at temples increased

The chief incumbents in the Kurunegala District have increased security at their respective temples and monasteries following warnings from the government of possible terror attacks, Senior Kurunegala District Divisional Secretary W.E. Jayathilake said.

He was speaking at a meeting of dhamma school teachers held on Wednesday, at the Bingiriya Youth Training Centre in Kurunegala.

Furthermore, anyone visiting places of worship should bring their national identity cards with them, he added.

Jayathilake said that police had also seized six yellow robes in recent raids and hence, temples and monasteries had been told to be vigilant as a suspect could enter the premises posing as a Buddhist monk.
