Sangeeth and Nadeera fastest at the 85th Mobitel Mahagastotte Hill Climb

It was that time of the year, that motor sports enthusiasts partake in the annual pilgrimage, that is now known as the Mahagastotte Festival of Speed, which is the birthplace of Motor Sports in Sri Lanka and takes place in Nuwara Eliya at Mahagastotte on the first weekend of April.

Spanning over 85 years, the Ceylon Motor Sports Club, have conducted this event continuously, which now has transformed into a weekend event, where over 120 Motorbikes, competed on April 6, in 16 different classes, while over 70 Cars competed on April 7.

In addition, a display and Parade of over 40 historic cars also partake in the revelry, while they too enjoy the weekends proceedings in a manner unseen in any other event in Sri Lanka, where Modern Bikes, Modern Cars, and Historic Cars are seen in one location over a motoring weekend in Sri Lanka.

Once again the principal sponsor of the 85th Mahagastotte Hill Climb was Mobitel. Mobitel partnering with the CMSC since 2018, have blended well, as both teams work on delivering excellent service to their respective customers, while not only being innovative, but also being modern and forward thinking.

The fastest time of the day on a bike, was achieved by Sangeeth Suriyage chasing the class record currently held by Ananda Sampath Weerasinghe, while Nadeera Jinasena clocked the fastest time in a car, trying to break the course record currently held by Ashan Silva. It is noteworthy to state, that the records held by Ananda Sampath Weerasinghe for bikes and Ashan Silva for cars remain unbroken for another year.
