Mumbai Indians make playoffs as Bumrah stars in Super Over win

Mumbai Indians became the third side to seal a spot in the playoffs but not before plenty of drama unfolded at the Wankhede on Thursday.

Manish Pandey's unbeaten 71 helped Sunrisers Hyderabad tie the game and catch up to Mumbai Indians’ total of 162.

Quinton de Kock fought hard and scored a half-century to lift the side to a fighting score before Sunrisers made a late dash - scoring 40 in the last three overs - to keep the game alive.

On the super over Pandey was run out on the very first ball but Mohammad Nabi struck a six off the third ball. Jasprit Bumrah bowled Nabi setting Mumbai a nine-run target.

Rashid Khan was trusted to bowl the all-important over but Sunrisers were dented first ball when Hardik Pandya smashed it for a six. A single followed before Kieran Pollard finished it off in the third ball.

Scores:

Mumbai Indians 162/5 in 20 overs (Quinton de Kock 69 n.o.; Khaleel Ahmed 3-42)

Sunrisers Hyderabad 162/6 in 20 overs (Manish Pandey 71 n.o.; Hardik Pandya 2-20).
