Pathfinder Foundation, National Development Reform Commission of China conduct Round Table

A six-member delegation from the Academy of Macroeconomic Research (AMR) of the National Development Reform Commission (NDRC) of China is visiting the Pathfinder Foundation (PF) today May 6 to hold a round table discussion on spatial planning and regional development experience of China.

AMR was established in 1995 and is the only national policy-making consulting think tank specialized in macroeconomic theory and policy research. AMR is characterized by its close association with the national macroeconomic management body, and its focus on China’s practical development. AMR provides intellectual support for NDRC and advisory services to the public.

The National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China (NDRC), is a macroeconomic management agency under the Chinese State Council, which has broad administrative and planning control over the Chinese economy. The NDRC’s functions are to study and formulate policies for economic and social development, maintain the balance of economic development, and to guide restructuring and reform of the economy.

The six-member team visiting Sri Lanka is headed by Mr. Gao Guoli, who is the Director of the Institute of Spatial Planning and Regional Economy, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Other members include: Xu Sheng, Institute of Economic Research; Hao Jie, Institute of International Economic Research; Huang Zhengxue, Institute of Spatial Planning and Regional Economy; Li Yutao, Institute of Comprehensive Transportation and Chen Xi, Department of Research Planning and Management.

The local participants will include experts with wide exposure to spatial planning and regional development, representatives of academia and the Pathfinder team.
