Extremism, terrorism will be eradicated - President

President Maithripala Sirisena noted that extremism of brutal terrorists will definitely be eradicated by the security forces within a short period.

The President made these remarks while addressing a gathering at Wadakada Sri Vijayasundararama Tampita Viharaya, Kurunegala last evening.

The President said the religious leaders are duty bound to create a cordial rapport among ethnicities while letting no room to damage the confident among them. President Sirisena placed his full confidence in the security forces in containing terrorism and therefore there is no need and no room for foreign armies to arrive in the country.But the Government is ready to receive the necessary assistance of foreign intelligence agencies to curb international terrorism.Foreign intelligence agencies will work hand in hand with our local intelligence agencies now, he added.

Speaking further the President added that security has been tightened for schools, scheduled to open today.

The President requested public to follow instructions of security forces and provide them all assistance in curbing the terrorism. He said the security forces are strong and capable enough to protect the citizens and all key locations. The President unveiled several new constructions of the temple including the Bodhi Prakaraya.
