Sunny Side Up

Come summer, and we think of colours, cool drinks and sheer clothes – all of which are mirrored in our summer beauty picks, too. Here’s a look at the top trends...

 Smokey eyes

The eyes are at the centre stage of your look – play them up. Go for a soft smokey look. Use khaki green and bronze for shadow. The best way to get the classic eye is to use the good ol’ kajal pencil around the shape of the eye.

Tip: Wear it almost like a liner but smudge it, keep the top lid bare. Brows can be filled softly keeping the natural shape. Try a brushed-out look on the brow.

Gloss it up

Glosses are making a comeback and metallic glosses are in. Keep the lip colour nude. Holo-graphic lip gloss looks cool and understated when worn alone with just defined brows, mascara, and softly sculpted cheeks. If you want colour on your lips, go for a soft berry tint.

Glitter bug

Glitter is being used on every kind of eye makeup – it’s the quickest way to add oomph. Use glitter on cheeks, lips or décolletage.

Keep it supple

Use a water-based moisturiser or an aloe-vera based gel as a primer. You can also use facial mists and sprays before starting the makeup. Make your own foundation mix for a lighter coverage by adding sprays, lotion or oils to your formula.

Tip: Keep the foundation bare minimum. If you have good skin, just highlight with a lighter shade concealer and blend outwards. Finish with a compact using a big fluffy brush.

Pink rocks

Monochromatic makeup is trending, especially using shades of pink. Mono makeup uses one colour for eyes, cheeks and lips.

Soft contours

Seamless makeup, where contouring is mostly invisible, is the season staple. Soft contours can be achieved by using highlighter or just a darker shade than your foundation tone.
