Anti-aircraft ammo unearthed in Vavuniya

The Irattaperiyakulam Police acting on a tip-off recovered 85 anti-aircraft ammunition in Vavuniya.

A resident who had found the ammunition while inspecting forest land had alerted the police. Thereafter, the Irattaperiyakulam Police dug out the ammunition after police mastiff ‘Tigger’ located the spot where it was buried.

Police believe that LTTE terrorists would have hidden the ammunition during the war. The STF was to defuse the ammunition after a magisterial order from the Vavuniya Magistrate was obtained.
