Festive spirit lingers on

It’s not only in Moratuwa. The Katubedda branch of Keels organized the Sinhala and Tamil Avurudhu Celebrations on a grand scale to children who walked into the premises during the festive days.

Koel has lost his voice. The beat of Rabans and the laughter of children with all fun and frolic filled the air. The smell of the oil frying Kevun and Kokis swept the warm air to the gratification of the heaty sun which was smiling in the clear blue skies. Sweetmeats were freely available. A large tent was put up for the adults to purchase clay pots, for a moment to put aside aluminium pans. The firecrackers were sold at very reasonable rates.

A variety of Avudrudhu games such as Panchi, Niranjee, drawings, dramas with Arachchirala, Baloon Relays and digital games stole the show. Mr and Ms Avurudhu walked home with fabulous prizes.
