Nabbed with distorted religious texts

The Army and the Police, in a joint operation, yesterday took into custody a youth in Ethalawatunuwewa, Kahatagasdigiliya on a tip-off received by intelligence agencies.

The suspect, a resident of Kandy, had arrived in the area a few days ago.

The police seized his car and some books containing distorted Buddhist and Catholic literature. Kahatagasdigiliya Police are conducting further investigations.

Meanwhile, Kahatagasdigiliya Police, on a tip-off, arrested three suspects with 18 grammes of cannabis.

Preliminary investigations revealed that these suspects had distributed cannabis in the Kahatagasdigiliya, Konwewa and Mukiriyawa areas.
