Karandeniya Police yesterday arrested the main suspect in the Danny Hittetiya murder, Sunil Premaratne alias ‘Eta Indika’ during a raid in Egodawela.
The suspect who is close associate of drug kingpin Makandure Madush was accused of assassinating former Southern Provincial Minister Danny Hittetiya.
Police sources said the suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by the Karandeniya Police based on a complaint over the snatching of a gold chain from a woman in the area.
The suspect who has experience in stunts with motorcycles has been accused in 13 cases including the Danny Hittetiya murder.
Hittetiya who was former Southern Development Authority chairman had allegedly been killed by Premaratne and his accomplice ‘Akurala Kaluwa’ on a contract given by Makandure Madush who is currently under the custody of Criminal Investigation Division.
