Cardinal commends Sajith for swift work

A progress review meeting into the reconstruction activities carried out at St.  Anthony’s Church, Kochchikade, St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya and the Zion Church in Batticaloa was held at the Archbishop’s House yesterday. Housing Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa in conversation with Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

A progress review meeting into the reconstruction activities carried out at St.  Anthony’s Church, Kochchikade, St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya and the Zion Church in Batticaloa was held at the Archbishop’s House yesterday. Housing Construction and Cultural Affairs Minister Sajith Premadasa in conversation with Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.       

Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith commended Housing Minister Sajith Premadasa for his dedication to renovate the three damaged churches from the Easter Sunday bomb attacks.

The Archbishop stated this at a progress review meeting on the renovations of these churches held at the Archbishop’s official residence on Thursday.

He said the minister contacted him several times over the phone and sprung into action to carry out the renovations without limiting it to words.

“Therefore, I express my gratitude to Minister Premadasa on behalf of the Colombo Archbishop and also the Catholic community,” the Archbishop added. Security forces personnel supporting the renovations were also appreciated on this occasion.

The St. Anthony’s Shrine in Kochchikade, St. Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya and the Zion Church in Batticoloa were severely destroyed during the Easter Sunday attacks.
