SL restores diplomatic ties with Gambia

The Sri Lankan government and the government of Gambia have decided to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries with effect from May 10.

The agreement in this regard was signed by Dr. Amrith Rohan Perera, Sri Lankan Ambassador and Permanent Representative the UN and Gambian Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Gambia to the UN, Lang Yabou on May 10 in New York, the Foreign Ministry said.

The establishment of diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Gambia would enhance the existing friendly relations and cooperation in the political, socioeconomic and cultural fields for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
