AG indicts former SDIG in Vidya case

The Attorney General yesterday forwarded indictments against former Senior DIG Lalith Jayasinghe to the Jaffna High Court.

This is for allegedly assisting Mahalingam Shashikumar, the main suspect in the gang rape and murder of school girl Sivalokananthan Vidya.

The Attorney General’s Coordinating Officer, State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne told the Daily News yesterday that the former SDIG has been accused of assisting Mahalingam Shashikumar alias Swiss Kumarthe main suspect in the rape and murder of Sivalokananthan Vidya in Punguduthivu, Jaffna in May 2015.
