Death of veteran actress Chithra Vakista

Veteran actress Chitra Vakista who had contributed a large number of stage plays, films and teledramas, passed away yesterday.She was 83.

Wakista made her debut appearance into cinematic world through the ‘Podi Putha’ film directed by Sirisena Wimalaweera. She had acted in more than 150 films including Gehunu Lamai, Sirakaruwa, Yuganthaya and Seethalawathura.

Remains lie at the Jayaratne funeral parlour, Borella.
