Outdoor Lemoga

Practicing yoga with animals is nothing new - you’ve probably heard of dog yoga (aka doga) and cat yoga - even goat yoga - but have you ever heard of yoga with lemurs? The novel concept is something you can try out for yourself at Armathwaite Hall Hotel and Spa near the Lake District in the English countryside.

The outdoor “Lemoga” classes are part of the hotel’s “meet the wildlife” wellness activities. The program aims to help participants feel at one with nature, lower anxiety, and provide comfort. Imagine relaxing in child pose when all of a sudden a lemur comes over for a cuddle - you’re sure to leave class with a huge smile on your face.

With 400-acre grounds, Armathwaite Hall is home to many species, including alpacas, meerkats, and eagles. Their inquisitive troop of ring-tailed lemurs are particularly suited to yoga though, and seem to enjoy it just as much as the human yogis. The hotel tell My Modern Met, “With their friendly, outgoing personalities and love for human contact, lemurs make the perfect yoga buddies, helping people to laugh, unwind and stretch away their troubles.”

The Lemoga Spa Break costs £495.00 for 2 people and includes a Lemoga session, entrance to the Lake District Wildlife Park, overnight accommodation, breakfast, and a three-course dinner in the Brasserie. You’ll even have full use of the in-house spa and a complimentary 55-minute spa treatment.

For every Lemoga Spa Break booked, Armathwaite Hall will donate 10 percent to Madagascan charity, SEED Madagascar. They manage a range of sustainable developments and conservation projects to help ease poverty in the country.
