The death occurred of Asanga Prasad Weerapura (54) a journalist attached to the Lake House Government Relations Department.
Weerapura who started his journalistic career as a provincial correspondent in the ‘Divaina’ newspaper later served as a journalist and news editor of the Sinhala Bauddhaya paper. Weerapura later joined Lake House as a proof reader in 2003.
He was a talented poet who functioned as the Editor of Lake House tabloids ‘Samupadeepani’, ‘Wana Diviya’, ‘Wedihitiyo’, ‘Adhikarana’, ‘Arunalu’ and ‘Samurdhi’ published along with the Dinamina.
He leaves wife Deepika and children Nipun Pramuditha (‘Resa’ correspondent), Samadhi and Kavya.
His remains are lying at his residence at 344/2 Kuda Magalkanda, Maggona.
Funeral takes place at the family burial grounds on Thursday May 6 at 3 pm.
