Panadura UC Chairman Nandana Gunatilleke assured all Councillors that he would take action to eradicate bribery and corruption prevailing among the employees of a certain department of the Council without any hesitation.
A few complaints against the staff members had been received by him. He had informed the ratepayers to submit their written complaints to him for action, he said. Gunatilleke was speaking at the monthly meeting of the UNP-controlled Panadura Urban Council held at the Council auditorium yesterday.
The Councillors alleged that on an earlier occasion too, they had brought allegations of bribery and corruption prevailing among the employees of the Council, but the then Chairman did not take action against them.
The Chairman said a new traffic scheme would be introduced in Panadura town, after consulting the Panadura SP and officers of the Traffic Committee of the Panadura South Police.
