Better than the original film

‘The Secret Life Of Pets’ was a runaway success when it came out three years ago, with the cartoon raking in £688million worldwide. And, with the addition of Tiffany Haddish and Harrison Ford, the sequel – aptly titled ‘The Secret Life Of Pets 2’ – can easily surpass it.

The story starts with Max (Patton Oswalt, replacing Louis C.K.) and Duke (Eric Stonestreet) having to juggle their normal dog duties with taking care of owner Katie’s new baby, little Liam. We know from the first movie how well Max deals with change… But instead of being aloof, he goes the complete other way, sensing danger at every step.

A dog’s version of helicopter parenting, and we’re living for it. It takes a trip out to a farm, and a meeting with sheepdog Rooster – voiced by Harrison Ford who manages to radiate cool from his husky drawl alone – to eventually calm Max down just a little and have some fun.

If you’re getting some serious Toy Story vibes, you’re not alone. But while the family are away, chaos unsurprisingly ensues back home. Metro
