Students display some yoga moves

Students of Shakthi Ananda Yoga School, Kali Kovil Road, Urani, Batticaloa, won gold and silver medals in the International Yoga Asana Championship 2019 Yoga Competition held on International Yoga Day in Colombo recently.

This competition was organized by Astanka Yoga Mandir, Colombo, in collaboration with the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center.

Nearly 400 students from 46 yoga schools throughout the island took part in the competition. This was the first time that the yoga competition of this magnitude was held at the Vivekananda Cultural Center.

15 students represent Batticaloa Shakthi Ananda Yoga School in the first division between the ages of 8 and 13. Sheela Logwaran won the Gold medal and Sapthami Nimalaraj won the Silver medal. Students from 46 yoga training schools participated throughout the island.

Deputy High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka Dr. Shipak Ambule, Sri Vishnu Mohan Foundation in India Swamiji Hari Prasath, First Secretary and Director of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Sri Lanka Rajashree Behra and Founder of Astanka Yoga Mandir of Sri Lanka and Chief Yoga Instructor of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center Vyasah Kalyanasundramwere the guests. They presented the awards, medals and certificates.
