A man who forced his13-year-old daughter to swallow over 10 narcotic pills was arrested by the Panadura Anti-Corruption Unit, on Monday. The child has been admitted to the Panadura Hospital for treatment, police said.
The suspect and victim are residents of the Modarawila Tsunami Housing Scheme in Panadura, and the former is said to be an alcoholic and drug addict. The suspect, aged 32, is said to have had frequent arguments with his wife.
She had been away from home when the incident occurred. Investigations are continuing.
