World Heart Day Cycle Race at Maruthamunai

World Heart Day was celebrated on September 29. To mark the occasion a road awareness cycle race from Maruthamunai to Karaitivu was jointly conducted by the Maruthamunai Divisional Hospital and the Maruthamunai Riders Hub cycling team under the guidance of the Kalmunai Regional Health Services Director’s Office.

Heart disease are leading cause of death in the world. Healthy eating habits and good exercise are important to avoid. Exercising at least half an hour a day is important. Cycling will greatly reduce medical costs and fatalities. This street awareness cycle race was held to grow awareness among the people of the area.

Led by Medical Officer in Charge of Maruthamunai Divisional hospital Dr. ARM Azmy, the cycle race was participated by doctors, government officers, retired administrative officers, youth and many others.
