CFSL election on November 6

The due election of Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) will be held on November 6 after delayed by the Covid-19 epidemic and the objections raised by the Nationalized Services Carrom Association (NSCA) and NSCA affiliates.

The last tenure of the CFSL was ended in last May and the election had to be delayed due to Covid-19 epidemic as well as objections raised by NSCA and its affiliates who failed to continue their membership since 2017.

The Election Committee was appointed at the SGM held in 2019 and comprised Dharmasena Kahandawa/ Rtd. Addl. DG of Customs (Chairman), Shelton Premaratne/ Rtd. Staff Officer of Survey Dept and DDA Senadira/ Rtd. Staff Officer of CMC, who rendered excellent service for the sport.

Nominations were closed on September 8 and objections will be allowed until September 21. It was reported that Gen. Secretary, Treasurer, Tournament Secretary and Asst. Treasurer posts will be uncontested and election for President, Vice Presidents, Asst. Secretary, and the 10 committee members will be contested on November 6 at the Duncan White Auditorium of the Sports Ministry, Colombo 07.

Therefore, Daya Widanagama/ present General Secretary, Sunanda Kodagoda/ Media Officer, Amitha Wickramasinghe/ Tournament Secretary and Kamala Abeyweera will retain their posts.
