The Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa said this is the best occasion to start rural school sport development and State Minister Thenuka Widhanagamage has started his duties with the construction of Udukawa Kanishta Vidyalaya ground and also promised to give functional training centre (Gymnasium) which also can use for students as well as village people. "I am very happy to start our programs at this Uduwaka school where Susanthika has started her athletic career," said Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa. "We have already started a program to develop 25 National sports schools to give more facilities and I am very much confident we can see more Susanthikas from this college in future," said Minster Rajapaksa.

Susanthika Jayasinghe said she had a lot of difficulties those days at school. "I could not get my daily meal. My parents had a lot of difficulties and sometimes I had to borrow a t-shirt for the National events from others. However today we have a good Minister, he himself a former sportsman and know about these difficulties and I am very happy to see their contributions for my mother school," added Olympic medalist Jayasinghe. She also remembered her first coaches and requested the Minister to get their service to develop sports. "The dedication is the key factor of my success. Actually I could not get good education those days with sports but today with this facilities athletes can do both studies and sport to reach top level," said Susanthika Jayasinghe. Talented athletes of Uduwaka Kanishta school were also felicitated during the ceremony.
