Court allows Dilantha Malagamuwa to go abroad

The Colombo High Court on Wednesday (30) allowed Sri Lankan racing champion Dilantha Malagamuwa to travel abroad to participate in the ‘Lamborghini Super Trophy 2020’ to be held in several countries including France.

When the case was taken up before the Colombo High Court Judge Dhammika Ganepola, Attorney-at-Law Jeewantha Jayathilake sought from Court permission for his client to attend a racing tournament in several countries, including France between October 10 and November 15. He said that his client did not have a travel ban and it is necessary to inform court and obtain permission to travel abroad. He informed court that the case is already fixed for October 19 and sought from court to proceed the case in the absence of the Dilantha Malagamuwa on that day. The Colombo High Court Judge then gave permission to Dilantha Malagamuwa to travel abroad.The case will be taken up again on October 19.

The Attorney General had filed indictment in the Colombo High Court with four charges against racing champion Dilantha Malagamuwa, Gnanadeepan Sivojothi Vijitha Bandara Ranaraja for defrauding a Japanese national to the tune of US$ 600,000 to construct a luxury apartment complex.
