MEPA holds International Marine Environment Protection Day

The Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) Southern Provincial Office recently launched a series of events in the Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts with the objective of preventing and controlling marine pollution and promoting mangrove restoration along the Southern coastal belt to mark International Marine Environment Protection Day.

Under the initiative the officials of the authority led by its Provincial Deputy Manager R.P. Renuka started the mangrove restoration project by planting mangrove shrubs at the estuary of the Gin Ganga.
