Trust Fund to renovate, conserve Deegavapi Temple

The Cabinet approved the proposal by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to establish a trust fund to collect funds to renovate and conserve the Deegavapi Temple, Co-cabinet Spokesman Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said.

He was addressing a media briefing at the Government Information Department to inform the decisions at the week’s Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has set up a Presidential Task Force to manage archaeological heritage in the Eastern Province and raise funds to renovate and conserve the Deegavapi Temple soon.

Minister Gammanpila said that the Cabinet approval has been granted to carry out to renovate and conserve the temple through a Cabinet sub-committee appointed with the representatives of the private and public sectors chaired by Defence Secretary Major Gen. Kamal Gunarathna and a supporting committee under the the Presidential Task Force.
