President Gotabaya Rajapaksa joined World Children’s day celebrations yesterday while presenting mobile libraries to schools in five districts. SLTB buses that had been out of commission were repaired in an attractive manner as libraries for children. The President in conversation with children and officials inside one such mobile library at the distribution ceremony held at Presidential Secretariat yesterday.

| The National Ceremony of commemorating the International Day for Older Persons was held yesterday at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute. The International Day of Older Persons is observed on October 1 each year and ‘Do They Change How We Address Age and Ageing Elders’ was the theme of 2020 National Elders’ Day celebration. An award of appreciation was presented to D.M. Menikhamy from Narammala, who gave birth to 18 children by Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi on the occasion. |
