SLAF resumes Udawalawe Forest reforestation programme

The Sri Lanka Air Force Command Agro Unit in collaboration with the SLAF Station Weerawila has resumed a reforestation programme at selected land sites within the Udawalawe forest reserve on 29 September 2020.

Under the leadership and initiative of Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sumangala Dias, the SLAF Command Agro Unit has planted seedling of Mee, Palu, Kohomba in one Arce in the forest reserve. These lands were previously used for illegal cannabis plantations. However, the SLAF Intelligence Operatives together with troops from the Sri Lanka Police Special Task Force had successfully destroyed eight identified Cannabis Cultivation Sites within the Udawalawe Forest on August 20, 2020.
