The Department of Registration of Persons yesterday said that its main office in Colombo and regional offices will remain closed for the public from October 7 – 9 to prevent the congregation of people.
The department has also suspended the one day services to prevent the COVID 19 pandemic.
According to Commission General P. V. Gunathilake, inquiries can be made to the Registration of Persons Unit at every Divisional Secretariat to obtain National Identity Cards for the students sitting for the Advanced Level Examinations or urgent requirements.
Inquiries can also be made to the Head office on 0115 226150, 0115 226115 over urgent National Identity Cards matters.
The public can also contact regional offices in Galle on 091 222 8348, Kurunegala on 037 222 4337 and Vavuniya on 025 2227201 or Batticaloa on 065 2229449
Those who have already allocated numbers and a time to hand over their applications will be given priority when the department resumes its services, the statement said.
