Escaped suspected COVID-19 patient apprehended - UPDATE

The suspected COVID-19 patient, who escaped from Ragama Hospital was apprehended, said the DIG Ajith Rohana.

A special operation has been launched to nab a COVID-19 infected patient who had gone missing today while receiving treatment at the Ragama hospital.

The patient, a resident of Peliyagoda tested positive for COVID-19 and was receiving treatment at the Ragama hospital. When the health officials reached the patient to gather information for more tracing purposes the patient had gone missing.

The police headquarters are requesting the public support to locate the missing patient. Issuing a press release the police further said that personal details of an infected person are not revealed to the media yet for the well being of the society, considering the current situation missing person’s identity has been released to the media to track him down .

Accordingly the details are

  • Name: Rajawasaladealalage Don Sarath Kumara
  • Age: 62
  • Address: No. 307, Kandy Road, Peliyagoda.

The police further stated that those who conceal information with the regard to COVID-19 will face legal action under quarantine laws.

The Police requests the public to inform to the nearest police stations.
