Random PCR tests in Galle

Random PCR tests will be carried out in the Galle District, Health Services Deputy Director (Galle) Dr. Kanchitha Samararatne said.

He said this decision was taken as several apparel factory workers, who were tested positive for COVID-19, were residents in the Galle District.

Four residents in Elpitiya, Batapola, Niyagama and Ahangama have been tested positive for COVID-19. Of them, the patient in Batapola had used public transport. PCR tests will be carried out targeting those bus routes. He also said six apparel factory workers in the Koggala Free Trade Zone had attended an alms-giving event where the COVID-19 infected patient in Ahangama participated.

Therefore, random PCR tests were being conducted in Habaraduwa.

A child of COVID-19 infected patient in Elpitiya is sitting for the GCE Advanced Level Examination this year and that child had attended several tuition classes in Ambalangoda.

The PCR test result of the child was pending.
