Over 40 families in Horana are in quarantine

Members of 47 families have been instructed to undergo self-quarantine after two residents of the Horana Medical Officer of Health division, who contracted COVID-19, were identified.

“These two persons work at Brandix in Minuwangoda and these members of the 47 families had closely associated those patients,” Kalutara District Chief Administrative Public Health Inspector, Saman Geeganage said.

“The two COVID-19-positive patients are residents of Kadanhena, Horana and Gurugoda areas. After PCR tests were conducted, it was confirmed that those two persons were infected with the virus and subsequently, people in Horana and Bandaragama who were close associates of them have been quarantined,” Geeganage stated.

“In view of the prevailing situation, all hospitals, Medical Officer Office of Health as well as other health service institutions in the Kalutara District are ready to face any emergency,” Dr. Udaya Ratnayake, Director, Kalutara District Regional Health Services said.
