Minuwangoda Police officers sent for quarantine

Ninety-five officials attached to the Minuwangoda Police were directed to quarantine centres yesterday (9) morning, Gampaha Superintendent of Police’s office said.

The action was taken following the owner of the Minuwangoda Police canteen has tested positive for COVID-19, Police said. Accordingly, the police officers were sent to the quarantine centres in Habaraduwa, Kalutara and Kundasale.

Among them are a number of police officers who have been referred for PCR tests and are not infected with the virus and steps have been taken to obtain PCR tests of other police officers at the quarantine centres, Police said.

Officers attached to the Minuwangoda Police Station as well as officers who had reported for duty to the Minuwangoda Police from other police stations due to the curfew have been directed to the quarantine process, a Senior Gampaha Police Officer said.

Although most of the police officers have been quarantined, steps have been taken to perform their duties in the interest of the people, he added.
