The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka (VTA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 7 to develop and expand work towards building a future-fit young generation through proposed programmatic interventions.

The MoU will serve to establish and implement joint efforts to bridge the gap between future projects and entrepreneurship and youth capacity building. The objective of the MoU is to jointly design and implement capacity and skill enhancement programmes for young people enrolled with the VTA. The programmes will focus on Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship skills and will be carried out through UNDP Sri Lanka’s HackaDev Academy of Skills and Learning.

Further they will collaborate on the institutional strengthening of VTA including the teaching capacity of VTA programme officers, and improving the digital infrastructure of the institution.

This initiative is part of UNDP’s long-term partnerships with the TVET sector institutions in Sri Lanka.

The MoU was signed by Resident Representative of the UNDP in Sri Lanka Robert Juhkam and VTA Chairman Damitha Wickramasinghe. VTA Vice Chairman Sanjaya Jayamanna and Director-Career Guidance and Promotion Saman Kulasuriya were present on the occasion.
