Over 500,000 youth have been addicted to narcotics according to the latest Government surveys, Defence Secretary Major General (Rtd.) Kamal Gunaratne said.

“Just putting them behind bars is not enough. A proper rehabilitation programme for them is vital before releasing them back to society. My family and I have been threatened with death by thugs and drug racketeers after we launched stringent security operations to control the drug menace. I will never give up my efforts in this regard. As per the advice and guidance of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the motherland and its citizens will be saved from drugs and thugs before long,” he said.
