New houses for 548 families in Puttalam

Under the Gamata Geyak, Ratata Hetak (Housing for villages, a better future for the country) programme implemented under the guidance of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, steps are being taken to build new houses for 548 homeless families in the Puttalam District.

The National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) has granted Rs. 600,000 to every householder in the district to construct their houses, Puttalam District SLPP Parliamentarian and Development of Rural and Regional Water Network State Minister Sanath Nishantha told the media yesterday (12). He said he has already handed over cash cheques to the deserving families in the Puttalam District yesterday (11). All these proposed houses are to be completed before the end of this year.
