‘Horana Base Hospital safe from COVID-19’

All necessary precautions have been taken for the protection of the patients and staff at the Horana Base Hospital after it was confirmed that a nurse working at the hospital has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 coronavirus.

“The Horana Hospital is currently functioning as usual and there need not be any undue fear in this regard,” said Horana Hospital Medical Director,” Dr. Ayanthi Jayawardena.

Accordingly, all essential services will be carried out as usual and the Surgery, Emergency Care Unit, children’s wards and clinics will be carried out as usual and the Medical Director said that there is no need to close the hospital so far.

“Over 500 patients attend the hospital’s clinics daily and therefore, considering the prevailing situation, only the emergency patients should be referred to the clinics,” Dr. Jayawardena said.

“All measures have been taken to supply the medicines required by all patients while guaranteeing the safety of the hospital staff as well,” she said.
