Cinema halls to be closed till Oct. 31

Update: The Film Corporation yesterday decided to keep all cinema halls in the country closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Film Corporation Chairman Jayantha Dharmadasa said all films halls will remain closed till October 31 in compliance with Health Ministry guidelines to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.Health authorities yesterday decided to separate the Padiyathalawa District Hospital for the treatment of Corona patients from Monday.

Hospital’s officer-in-charge Dr.A.N.A.K.Attanayake said the Padiyathalawa Medical Officer of Health will provide services to only the outdoor patients of the Hospital. The people in the area can obtain medical services from the Maha Oya Base Hospital.Patients in the area will also be admitted to the Maha Oya Base Hospital.

Examinations Chief Sanath Pujitha in a statement yesterday evening denied media reports that a husband of the Department’s employees had contracted COVID-19.He said that the husband of this officer currently employed at the Department had undergone two PCR tests and both tests had confirmed that he had not contracted the virus.
