Number of devotees to Kataragama Maha Devalaya rituals limited

The Kataragama Anti-Corona Committee has decided to allow only 10 devotees to participate in the Maha Devalaya rituals.

The decision was reached at a meeting held under the patronage of Kataragama Divisional Secretary A.M.Nandasiri.

Kataragama MOH Dr.I.S. Devanarayana said that two Brandix women employees who had allegedly came to Kataragama had contracted COVID-19, and owner of the guest house where the employees were staying was quarantined along with 49 other people and two PCR tests were done.

The two women had roamed Sellakataragama, Kataragama and other areas, so detecting more COVID-19 contracted persons is possible, he said.

The people will be made aware of the situation via a public addressing system by the Kataragama Mercantile Union from time to time. The Union Chairman Gayan Sampath said that handbills will be distributed among the people in this regard.
