Two educational institutions converted into quarantine and treatment centres

Following the closure of the Addalaichenai National College and the Government Teachers’ Training College in Ampara District owing to COVID-19 pandemic, these colleges have been converted in to Quarantine Centre and Medical Officers’ Treatment Centre respectively by Army Personnel and Medical Personnel.

All arrangements are now underway with cleaning and purifying the areas with all antiseptics and sanitizers after Army took over both these Colleges since Monday following all teacher trainees and students were sent home.

These arrangements are being made by Army and Medical personnel due to the sudden increase of COVID-19 Virus pandemic and to accommodate without any congestions. It is informed that the female hostel of the College of Education, which consists of 250 beds would be converted in to main Quarantine Centre as its consists of nice environment and surroundings.

Army higher officials in consultations with the Divisional Secretary, Medical Officer of Health of the area and the managements of Addalaichenai National College of Education and Government Teachers Training College are in discussion every now and then to provide all necessary equipment and other facilities.
