Health Ministry today introduced a new hotline “1988” to report any issues relating to health at Advance Level examination centres.
Accordingly the Education Ministry informs all the stakeholders of the examination to immediately call the hotline number 1988 if for any reason the health of the children in any of the examination centres is not ensured or if the examination staff are acting irresponsibly or if they do not receive the required health facilities,
All the health related issues of the examination premises will be immediately addressed by the officials attacked to the hotline number.
This A/L examination commenced on October 12 and will continue until November 6 at 2,648 examination centres countrywide with 362,824 candidates sitting for the exam. Unlike on earlier occasions, the Education Department has taken measures to conduct the examination with special emphasis on the health of students sitting for the examination in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Taking into account the risk posed by the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the country, a conducive environment has been created for the safe conduct of the examination with the support of the health, defense and transport sectors. Also, a Principal, Deputy Principal or Senior Teacher of the respective examination centres will be appointed as the Additional Headmaster (in charge) to carry out the disinfection of examination centres in keeping with the health guidelines ensuring the safety of all students sitting for the exam.
