Maha cultivation begins in Polonnaruwa

About 30,000 acres of paddy depending on the waters of the Parakrama Samudraya for irrigation are currently receiving water and farmers have begun cultivation for the Maha season (from October to April).

With a water capacity of some 85,000 acre-feet, farmers and irrigation officials hope that they will have sufficient water throughout the Maha season, for a good harvest.
