Peliyagoda Fish Market workers lodge in Wattala – residents

Wattala residents said that health authorities should pay special attention to the area as the employees of the Peliyagoda Fish Market are staying in the town.

Forty nine persons have tested positive for COVID-19 positive from 120 random PCR tests that were conducted at a private factory in Wattala recently, Wattala MOH said. The factory has been temporarily closed and PCR tests of the remaining 800 workers will be carried out this week, he said. The virus is spreading rapidly in Wattala, as there are many boarding houses and populated areas, the residents said. Wattala accommodates many employees of the Peliyagoda Fish Market and populated areas in the area provided a ladder to spread the virus very fast.

Seventy five COVID-19 affected have been identified with random PCR tests conducted in Wattala over the past two days and the affected have been taken to quarantine centers.

The infected were residents of various places in the area,Wattala PHIs said.
