Use CMT-7 form to transfer vehicle ownership – State Minister

The CMT-7 form can be used instead of using the Certificate of Registration when transferring ownership of a vehicle since the Department of Motor Traffic has been closed, Vehicle Regulation, Bus Transport Service and Train Compartments and Motor Car Industry State Minister Dilum Amunugama said.

He was speaking to the media after a ceremony at the Kandy North Depot to repair several SLTB buses to add them back into operation.

State Minister Amunugama said that the CMT -7 form has been made available considering the difficulty in vehicle transferring due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and as the one day service of the Department of Motor Traffic has been discontinued and under the normal procedure, it takes 21 days for a vehicle owner to change the name of the book and receive it back.

He requested the vehicle owners to obtain a CMT -7 form, when they hand over the book to transfer a vehicle into a new owner’s name.
