Passport Office to remain closed

The Department of Immigration and Emigration yesterday informed that visiting of the public to the Battaramulla Head office of the Department of Immigration and Emigration will be temporarily suspended from today (02.11.2020) until further notice to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 Virus.

The public are requested to contact the relevant Divisions through the following telephone numbers and e-mails from 8.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. on working days for essential services to be obtained from the Head Office of the Department of Immigration and Emigration.

General instructions and information on www.immigration.gov.lk.

Regional Offices in Kandy, Vavuniya, Matara and Kurunegala will be kept open for issuing passports in case of emergency.

Before visiting to the Regional Offices, an appointment should be made through the telephone numbers 0707101060, 0707101070 subject to health regulations imposed in the country.

The Department release also said that the public in the areas where the quarantine curfew has already been imposed should not visit to the Regional Offices at this instance.

“Providing of all the above services are subject to policy decisions, curfew, health and security decisions taken from time to time in view of the prevailing epidemic and the decisions regarding the provision of such services are subject to the revisions made from time to time,” the release said.
