Quarantine order violators will be prosecuted - DIG

Five hundred and fifty persons who had traveled outside the Western Province in violation of the quarantine order on October 29 and 30, have been directed to the quarantine process in the same areas under the purview of the health authorities.

Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that cases will be filed against them after the quarantine process.

A search operation was launched throughout Sri Lanka on October 29 and 30 to find people who had travelled to areas outside the Western province violating the quarantine order.

Accordingly 550 people were traced from Batticaloa, Tangalle, Nuwara Eliya, Matara, Jaffna, Bandarawela and other areas who had travelled against the quarantine regulations and such persons have been quarantined in the same areas they were located, the Police Media Spokesman pointed out. The Police Media Spokesman further stated that those who left the Western Provinces on the said days will be subject to the quarantine process after they enter the Western Province once the curfew is lifted.
